Appropriate Imaging Findings, Clinical Considerations, and Treatment Guidelines for Different Types of Arthritis- Joseph Heston, D.C., M.S., DACBR, RMSK

In this session, Dr. Heston review common types of arthritis including the best ways to differentiate arthritis based on age, sex, location, and radiographic features. For each type of arthritis, he will discuss current and appropriate treatment guidelines and clinical recommendations. Finally, Dr. Heston will discuss application and how the chiropractor can help maximize patient outcomes while avoiding relative and absolute contraindications.

Digestive Health- Lia Nightingale, Ph.D.

Aging and many health conditions alter a person’s ability to digest, absorb, or assimilate nutrients from the diet. Dr. Nightingale will review the digestive process, including hormones, enzymes, motility, signaling, and absorptive mechanisms. The impact of digestive diseases on macronutrient and micronutrient absorption will be highlighted.

Challenges of Diagnosing Thyroid Disorders- Kira Baca, D.C., M.S.

Due to the thyroid's complexity and deep connection to many body systems it can cause various chronic problems, such as weight gain, fatigue, and chronic pain. This course will provide an overview of thyroid's role in the body, clinical examination and diagnostic testing, discussion of the complex nature of disease and common misdiagnoses, as well as management strategies.

Imaging of Pediatric Musculoskeletal Disorders- Emma Forlow, D.C., CCSP®, ART

This course provides an overview of pediatric musculoskeletal imaging, focusing on unique anatomical and physiological differences in children. It covers key imaging modalities, including X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound, and their roles in diagnosing developmental disorders, trauma, infections, bone tumors, and rheumatologic/metabolic bone diseases.

5-7 p.m.

Beyond Flexibility: Understanding and Managing Hypermobility in Clinical Practice- Kara Shannon, B.S., D.C.

Hypermobility is a common variation in joint function for many individuals but can also indicate a broader clinical concern when accompanied by other signs and symptoms. With advancing research, hypermobility is now understood within the context of hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD), which encompass a wide range of clinical presentations. These disorders often present challenges for both patients and healthcare providers due to their complex and diverse nature.

In this session, chiropractors will explore the latest research on hypermobility spectrum disorders, gaining insights into diagnosis, patient management, and the critical role chiropractic care plays in supporting patients. Attendees will learn how to provide education, advocacy, and tailored care strategies to help patients navigate their unique clinical journeys, fostering better outcomes and patient satisfaction.
